“Can’t I just like, stick my head in the sand and wait for it all to just sort itself out?”
Fledgling queer Natalie Sorowalla is straddling two worlds and is comfortable in neither. When her beloved grandfather dies, Natalie is thrust back into the family's claustrophobic nest. The two worlds seem to be nearing collision as Nat is forced to face who she is, what she wants and whether to finally tell her tightly-wound Parsi family about her relationship with a non-binary drag king...
A Piece of My Liver chews through family, grief and belonging in the ever-dwindling Parsi diaspora.
Shortlisted for the 2023 Tony Craze Award, A Piece of My Liver is Rebecca Banatvala's first play. As part of continued script development support, we produced two days of research and development workshops at Soho Theatre, led by Director Gikita Buttoo with actors Sakuntala Ramanee, Kammy Darweish, Tigger Blaize, Fayez Bakhsh and Natasha Atherton.
Our thanks to Soho Theatre for their support.
