A rehearsed reading of SAVING THE MAN, a new piece of work by young playwright Henry Devas. Henry is the author of WE’RE STAYING RIGHT HERE which premièred at the Park Theatre in February 19 to plaudits from audiences and critics alike. The play was particularly appreciated for the deft and absurdist expression of its themes of mental illness and its ‘razor-sharp dialogue’. SAVING THE MAN is a superb, new example of Henry’s trademark dark humour which is employed to great effect as he weaves a tragic and compelling tale that culminates in a deeply moving end.The reading is to be directed by Bethany Pitts whose recent work has brought her to prominence in the field of great new writing for the contemporary theatre.
