We are presenting a rehearsed reading of Daniel O'Brien's OVER THE HILL at 16:00 on Thursday 6th November in the theatre at 26 Crowndale Road, London NW1 1TT.
OVER THE HILL is the blackest of black comedies about the culmination of one old man's fractured life. As his mind itself starts to fragment, the gaps are filled by matters philosophical, cultural, familial, generational and scatological. His family all have their own lives to lead and they individually avoid what is staring them all in the face. Dementia has taken serious hold and he is on the way to somewhere from where he'll probably never return.
What follows is no gentle decline but a grotesque comedy riot colliding with flashes of lyricism and moments of startling beauty. Bawdy irreverence rubs up against sudden tenderness, and the rules of time and place collapse under the pressure of a disintegrating mind.
OVER THE HILL is written for five actors and a BSL Interpreter. BSL is woven into the action, not as an addition but as part of the very fabric of the play.
The reading will be fully accessible to D/Deaf people who can use BSL.
We'd love you to attend the reading if you're interested. Simply let us know by filling in this very simple form.
