Shahid Iqbal Khan is “a talented writer, capable of accurately striking contrasting notes” (Whatsonstage) and a “writer who asks big questions through deep and detailed characters” (Lucy Morrison of Royal Court Theatre in The Stage).
Shahid is one of the recipients of the 2023 Peter Staffer Commission from the National Theatre and The Octagon, Bolton. He is also one of the writers on the Genesis Almeida New Playwrights, Big Plays Programme for 2023-2025.
His first full-length drama for BBC Radio 4 Love Across The Ages, premiered in September 2022 and is still available to listen to online. BBC Writersroom added the text of this play to their script library.
His play, 10 Nights, was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2022 for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre.
"Khan is clearly a talented writer, capable of accurately striking contrasting notes and with a keen sense of the speech idiosyncrasies of a wide variety of characters".
"Shahid is a writer who asks big questions through deep and detailed characters, and we look forward to being enriched and energised by his thinking over the coming year".
