Nicole Behan is a Director who brings bold stories to life - on stage and beyond.
She is passionate about new writing and developing adaptations which connect audiences with 'here and now'. Her work is rich and multifaceted, drawn from ten years of directing for stage and immersive spaces. Later this year, she will stage an adaptation of Frank Clarke's iconic film Letter to Brezhnev at Liverpool's Royal Court.
Other recent credits include: Cinderella at Shakespeare North Playhouse, The Derby Days at Liverpool's Royal Court; and directing an adaptation of Hanif Kureshi's groundbreaking Oscar Nominated film My Beautiful Laundrette, Leicester Curve with National Theatre's Theatre Nation partnership.
As Artistic Director of Liverpool's Paperwork Theatre, Nicola creates intricate plays and immersive theatre which seeks to create connection and provoke positive change - most recently Lovestruck for Liverpool Everyman, Storyhouse & Shakespeare North Playhouse.
Nicole is currently developing her role as a Director for TV & Film as a recipient of Arts Council’s Developing Your Creative Practice funding.
