Charlotte Henery

Charlotte is a London-based set and costume designer. She is a graduate of the design course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Australia. Charlotte's design style is visually striking, bold and conceptual. It is non naturalistic and abstract, drawing inspiration from the everyday but reorganising, exaggerating or twisting it into something more representational. She is an essentialist - everything earns its place on stage, with a great love of reveals, surprises and stage magic. By building in reveals and surprises Charlotte can change and enhance the story, so the design is a constant part of the experience. She likes to use real textures to create a tangible reality, however abstract the concept.

Charlotte recently designed Manon Lescaut for English Touring Opera, which is currently on tour across the UK.

Recent design credits include: The Turn of the Screw (Ustinov Theatre), Ghost Stories by Candlelight (Hightide tour), 4 Walls (Derby Theatre), Carmen (Waterperry Opera Festival), The Seagull (Dramaten - Royal Dramatic Theatre Sweden), Follies (CSSD), Pains of Youth (LAMDA), Into the Woods (RNCM), The Marriage of Figaro (Waterperry Opera Festival), The Cunning Little Vixen (Jacksons Lane), Girl on the Train (Barn Theatre), SHEWOLVES (Touring production), MAGDALENE (Arcola Theatre), The Moors (LAMDA), Three Sisters (LAMDA), Silk Moth (Arcola Theatre), What Fatima Did... (Derby Theatre), The Shy Manifesto (UK Studio Tour).
