A reading of Kathryn O'Reilly's latest play SCREWED will take place at on Tuesday 17th November
SCREWED is an explosive and lyrical play about ladette culture, addiction and violence.
Soul mates Luce and Charlene, have an enterprise with Doris, Luce‘s father, running an on line sex advice video blog. After a heavy night out they clock in and survive the working day on the factory line popping caffeine pills and vodka miniatures. Luce has her eye on a promotion and Jonathan in accounts. Charlene has designs on recently promoted foreman and entrepreneur Paulo, who sees something in her but dreams of living in Russia. They clock out and get back out on the tiles, binging on booze and poppers, on the prowl for men. Fuelled by alcohol, jealousy and rage a fight breaks out on the dance floor. Retreating to Paulo’s kebab van, high on adrenalin and off their faces, things gets out of control leading to devastating consequences as both women turn on Paulo. Fleeing the scene not knowing whether he’s dead or alive, they turn on each other.
The reading will be directed by Sarah Meadows with the following cast: Eloise Joseph, Rikki Beadle-Blair, Stephen Myott-Meadows, Kathryn O'Reilly
