A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM
★★★★ If there is an actor who shines through the setting, it's Phoebe Naughton as Helena. Initially she plays the role for laughs — and gets them. But when she believes the other young lovers have conspired to tease her, the performance turns into one with real pathos, and the earlier comedy retrospectively becomes a device to shield her vulnerability. [The Londonist]
★★★ Phoebe Naughton captures the up-tight Helena well, evoking laughter initially before using comedy as a defence mechanism to mask her vulnerabilities. It’s an enthralling performance. [The Upcoming]
★★★ Phoebe Naughton is particularly good as a brittle, highly-strung Helena, pinch-lipped with paranoid fury when she suspects the lovesick Lysander (Ben Teare) and Demetrius (Sam Duncane) are making fun of her. [Timeout]
WITHOUT THAT CERTAIN THING
★★★★1/2 Sullivan, Phoebe Naughton gives one of the most assured performances of The VAULT Festival. Talky and haughty, Sullivan is nevertheless hypnotic. Speaking in a slightly plummy English accent, her filmic voice-overs are quick and funny, and suit Platt's dialogue perfectly. If Hugh Grant was to play Humphrey Bogart in The Big Sleep, this is the accent he'd use. [The Reviews Hub]
★★★★ ...the narration and acting by Sullivan [Phoebe Naughton] is top class. [North West End]
★★★ Naughton pulls it off with an adept sense of the rhythm and comedy... Naughton is in full command of her role, and is a pleasure to watch. [The Spy in the Stalls]
THE STRIKER
I very much enjoyed Phoebe Naughton's performance as the Striker - her range of emotion & characterization... It's a demanding part and she delivered it brilliantly. [Caryl Churchill]
Naughton's extraordinary performance always exudes an unknowable menace. [The Stage]
