Shahid Iqbal Khan is an Olivier Award nominated writer.
He started his writing career with The Smile of Despair at Attenborough Arts Centre. He then went on to co-write the book for the musical Stardust at the Belgrade Theatre. He won a place on Graeae Theatre’s flagship writing programme Write To Play. During his time there, he wrote the play 10 Nights. It premiered at the Bush Theatre and the play was his first full professional run. It was also his first play to be published (Methuen Drama). 10 Nights was nominated for an Olivier Award in Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre and for an Offie for New Play (finalist). Shahid has written short plays for Tara Theatre and English Touring Theatre. He is currently on attachment to Graeae Theatre and Royal Court Theatre. He has been co-commissioned to write a play. He also writes for radio. He has written audio shorts for Fremantle, Naked Productions and BBC Radio 4. He has just been commissioned to write an afternoon drama for Radio 4. This will be his first full-length drama. |
