ANDREW LAITHWAITE

Picture
About ANDREW
Andrew trained at LAMDA on the 2 year postgraduate acting course, following his BA in History & Politics at the University of Oxford.

Recent television credits include Peaky Blinders (BBC/Caryn Mandabach Productions) and Ulrik in Gangs of London (Sky Atlantic/Pulse Films).

Andrew's most recent theatre credits include Absurd Person Singular (Sheringham Little Theatre) and Crime and Punishment (The Tribe Theatre Collective).

While at university, he acted in student and professional venues across Oxford, as well as performing on the West End. His credits stretched from playing leading roles in musicals, such as Sweeney in Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, to playing a multiplicity of character roles in an ensemble production of The Caucasian Chalk Circle at the Oxford Playhouse. He also toured Japan and the UK in the role of Sir Toby Belch in the Thelma Holt/Cameron Mackintosh OUDS production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and has performed in two separate shows for the full duration of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Before his training at LAMDA, Andrew completed short courses at Bristol Old Vic and Guildhall School of Music and Drama, while also appearing in Channel 4’s Random Acts. He is a skilled singer, with a strong background in music. He has toured Europe in choirs, and also in bands as a trumpet-player.

Perhaps building on his love of History, Andrew is also a skilled swordsman, and has been awarded Distinction in a range of weapons by the British Guild of Stage Combat.
